How To Sew Button On Shirt

Ever lost a button right before heading out? Don't panic or toss that shirt aside. Grab a needle, thread, and a pinch of humor, and let's sew that button back on like a pro (or close enough)!

Even if you've never touched a needle, we promise you'll nail it without turning your shirt into a pincushion!

So, you’ve popped a button. It happens to the best of us (especially after that third slice of pizza). No worries, we’ve got your back. Sewing on a button is easier than deciding what to watch on Netflix—and much more satisfying.

What You’ll Need:

  • A button (duh)

  • Needle (sharp but friendly)

  • Thread (pick a color that doesn’t clash horribly)

  • Scissors (because teeth are not tools)

  • Shirt (obviously)

Step 1: Thread the Needle
This is the hardest part. Wet the end of the thread, squint like you're deciphering tiny text, and poke it through the needle’s eye. Double the thread and tie a knot at the end. If you got it on the first try, you deserve a cookie.

Step 2: Position the Button
Find the spot where your button used to live. Hold the button in place like you’re guarding a secret.

Step 3: Sew Like a Boss
Push the needle up through the fabric from underneath, through one hole in the button. Down through the opposite hole. Repeat until it's secure (3-4 times is solid). Don’t stab yourself.

Step 4: Lock It Down
Wrap the thread around the stitches under the button a few times. Then push the needle through to the back, tie a knot, and snip the thread.

You did it. Your shirt is saved, and you’re basically a tailor now.
