Big Change Coming: U.S. De Minimis Rule Ends August 29

Heads-up for my wonderful U.S. customers!
The de minimis exemption for packages under $800 will officially end on August 29, 2025. Since 1938, this rule has allowed low-value shipments to enter the U.S. duty-free, which has been a huge help for small businesses like mine—and for many others working across the Canada–U.S. border.

What does this mean for you?

  • Starting August 29, most shipments to the U.S., including those sent through Canada Post, will be subject to duties and taxes, no matter the value.

  • These taxes will be charged directly to the buyer.

  • Processing times may increase, and delays are possible as packages clear customs.

Now, I know my parcels never reach very high amounts, so the extra taxes should remain small. Still, I wanted to keep my U.S. customers fully informed to help avoid surprises.

Please know that I’ll be monitoring every shipment carefully and will keep you updated on any future changes.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support—it truly means the world to small shops like mine. 💛
